... Experience in importing Wood & Panels since 1939

Flexibility & speed in delivering a wide range from a large stock ... that's what we stand for at Omniplex!

PANELS, SOFTWOOD and TROPICAL HARDWOOD are the three product groups in which we keep a large stock, the fourth pillar being the PLANED TIMBER. In the planing production hall, we can process wood into semi-finished products according to customer specifications.  Besides having a large stock, Omniplex also consciously chooses to go wide.  Our aim is to always be able to offer a LARGE assortment in the three product groups from stock, both sawn and planed.  This allows our customers to choose from various VARIANTS, depending on their needs, regulations, budget and requirements.

Use our experience & use our stock for your business ...

Now
Meanwhile, OMNIPLEX has four sites with warehouses in Belgium and one hub in northern France, with the group's turnover amounting to around €44 million and trading around 120,000m³ of timber and panels annually with satisfied customers and suppliers.
2023
Two new automated Wenig planing installations and a CNC-controlled tool grinding machine has been commissioned, bringing the total to 8 professional, automated and industrial planing installations at the site in Harelbeke, Belgium.
2015
In Beveren-Leie (Waregem), new warehouses have being purchased on a 3-hectare site, with two quays for the unloading containers and the storage of tropical hardwood.
2013
In Bavikhove, new warehouses are being acquired on a 1-hectare site mainly for the storage of panels. The warehouses in Bavikhove also have three quays, for the independent unloading of containers.
2012
At the production site in Harelbeke, the wood preservation stations have been modernised and a second autoclave will be added for pressure impregnation of softwood, bringing the number of preservation installations to five.
2011
Omniplex-France is established with its own branch as a "hub" north of Paris in Méru (Oise), to provide service and fast deliveries to Ile-De-France (Paris) and northern France.
2010
In Harelbeke, new warehouses are being built on 2.5 hectares for storage and to respond even better to the market trend in providing "just-in-time" deliveries via reserved call-off stocks for customers.
2009
The planing mill will be completely rebuilt and new highly automated planing equipment have been commissioned.
2008
Thorough reorganisation of the group, with OMNIPLEX (nv/sa) becoming the trading company and Harelbeekse Houtzagerij (nv/sa), as sister company, continuing to handle the sawing & planing work. Also that year, an additional partner joins the OMNIPLEX management, Mr Van Oudenhove Timothy.
2006
The local timber merchant "Demeulemeester" in Rijmenam-Mechelen, is taken over and from then on forms part of OMNIPLEX-group.
2001
Mr Vlieghe Philip - owner of Harelbeekse Houtzagerij and Vlimex - acquires OMNIPLEX (nv/sa) in Antwerp. The know-how, goodwill and staff of OMNIPLEX - at that time market leader in Belgium for the worldwide import of wood-based panels - were the ideal partner for further development and joint growth.
2000
Due to a new strategic insight and reorganisation - with a focus on sawmills - within the FINNFOREST OY - METSA WOOD group, the latter decides to sell their Antwerp branch OMNIPLEX (nv/sa)
1995
OMNIPLEX NV becomes part of the Finnish group FINNFOREST OY - METSA WOOD. The FINNFOREST OY - METSA WOOD group has several similar sites in northern & central Europe for the distribution of their products. In Finland, they have several in-house production sites for panels and sawmills for softwood lumber. As a part of FINNFOREST OY - METSA WOOD, Omniplex has gained international recognition and imports have been further expanded.
1992
The SNAUWAERT-OMNIPLEX group is sold to the Rombouts group in Willebroek, Belgium. The Rombois & Sambre-Bois sawmills in Wallonia become independent companies.
1975
The OMNIPLEX company moves to the newly constructed Luithagen in the port of Antwerp. "OMNIPLEX-Antwerp" becomes a leading market leader for the import of various wood based panels, such as Plywood and Concrete Shuttering Plywood.
1968
The plywood division is taken out of PICUS and transformed into an independent company "OMNIPLEX", selling the company to the Wood importer "S.A. SNAUWAERT Importation Bois Anc." with their headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The SNAUWAERT company has their own warehouses with quays in the ports of Antwerp and Ostend for their imports of timber & boards. OMNIPLEX, as a panel specialist at that time, then provides a strong complement to the range of sawn timber of the parent company Snauwaert.
1939
The company "PICUS BELGE" is founded, based in avenue Louis Bertrand in Brussels, and uses "OMNIPLEX" as the name for its panel department, using "OmniPly" as the commercial name for their Plywood.
1932
We find the first traces of the name in history when the firm PICUS (from Eindhoven, Netherlands) employs a representative for the Belgian market. (Mr Leemans Senior).
